Vice President (Education and Careers) – Chloe Blackwell
Hi! My name is Chloe Blackwell and I am in my final year of Law/Arts degree. In 2012 I will the NDLSS Careers and Education Vice President.
My role on the NDLSS is to provide information to NDLSS members relating to education and careers. As part of this role I am responsible for producing the Careers Guide and assisting students with the recruitment process.
This year I will be building on the success of the new ventures brought to students by the 2011 committee including the annual careers evening and some new careers events aimed at facilitating the needs of law students seeking alternative career options.
My aim is to expand the education portfolio which will hopefully see more exam and assignment seminars as well as other new and exciting initiatives.
Let’s not forget the ALSA July Conference! This year it is going to be held in Melbourne and I encourage everyone to get on board! It is a fantastic opportunity to get to know law students from all over the country and to form lasting friendships with other Notre Dame students. Not to mention a fun-filled week of social events, dinners, competitions and sightseeing!
If you have any queries please feel free to approach me around ND or email me at careers@ndlss.org.au

Treasurer- Josh Saville
Hi. My name’s Josh Saville.
In 2012 I will be in my third year of the postgraduate law program. My first degree was a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) at Curtin.
I was the Treasurer of the NDLSS in 2011 and plan to continue the good work of the 2011 committee in 2012.
My goal for 2012 is to draw upon my past experience as Treasurer to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the functions of the Society with a view to increasing the value returned to the law student body at Notre Dame.
Please don’t hesitate to approach me with any thoughts or concerns. I am always willing to listen and take other students’ views on board. Or you can email me at treasurer@ndlss.org.au
Finally, for the freshers in the crowd, the most valuable tip I can give you about law school is to say hello to that odd looking person sitting next to you. Guaranteed they think you look weird too.
Secretary- Jacquie Farrelly
Hey everyone my name is Jacquie Farrelly and I’m your NDLSS Secretary for 2012!
I’m in my fourth year of Laws/Arts degree and have loved this uni ever since I started.
As Secretary, I am responsible for the smooth organisation of meetings, keeping minutes for meetings and assisting the other portfolios in any way I can!
So if you have a law related issue or suggestion that you would like discussed, please do not hesitate to send me an email at secretary@ndlss.org.au.
Good luck for the year ahead and I hope you enjoy all the committee has to offer you!
Sponsorship Representative- Frank Merenda
Hi there!
My name is Frank Merenda and I’m the NDLSS Sponsorship Representative for 2012. My job is quite simple; I’m the money man! So if you’re wondering what makes a NDLSS event successful (or unsuccessful), it’s based upon how much sponsorship and support we can get from law firms and local businesses. If you have a business or know of any sponsorship opportunities, please don’t hesitate to email me at sponsorship@ndlss.org.au.
Or if you’d like to talk finance or are a Buffett enthusiast you can find me at Moores on any given day!
Looking forward to a prosperous year and I hope that your expectations of the NDLSS will be fulfilled.
Publications Representative- Liz Warr
Hi everyone! I’m Liz Warr and I will be your Publications Representative on the NDLSS.
It is a fantastic position which includes maintaining and updating the NDLSS website (a daunting task), helping to advertise social events, as well as editing the NDLSS’s quarterly newsletter, The Sundry Crimes. The newsletter features articles written by students, so if you would like to contribute or nominate a staff member for a Q & A section please don’t hesitate to email me at publication@ndlss.org.au
Best of luck for 2012!
Competitions Representative- Georgia Bain
Hi, my name is Georgia Bain and I am in my third year of a Law/Commerce degree, and will be the Competitions Representative on the NDLSS in 2012.
Competitions are a great way to get involved at university and an excellent addition to your resumé when applying for clerkships.
My role, along with a competitions sub-committee, is to organise the many NDLSS-run competitions that we offer; help send competitors to national events such the July ALSA conference; and work with the rest of the NDLSS committee to make sure that 2012 is another highly successful year!
If you have any queries please feel free to approach me around ND or email me at competition@ndlss.org.au
Wishing you all the best for 2012!
Social Justice Representative- Edward Kimani
Hi, my name is Edward Kimani.
I am your Social Justice Representative for 2012. I am in my fifth year of a Law/Arts degree. I will be responsible for developing and overseeing the social justice and equity portfolio of the NDLSS. I will also address and monitor issues of inequity or injustice that exist in the School of Law and endeavour to represent students who bring forward such issues.
It is my job to provide opportunities for law students to engage with social justice issues and to volunteer or intern with organisations dedicated to social justice. We have some really exciting speeches planned for this year and we will be providing more information on legal volunteer work and general volunteer work with local, national and international organisations.
While we all want to avoid the cliché of studying law ‘to make a difference’, the reality is that many people in our community do not have access to justice. It is therefore crucially important that as future lawyers we should use the law as a medium for change.
Whether you see yourself drafting UN declarations in New York, corporate contracts in Hong Kong, or running for Parliament, there will be something to gain from getting involved with social justice this year. If you have any questions or ideas you can contact me at socialjustice@ndlss.org.au
First Year Representative- Conrad Karageorge

I encourage you to take part in the numerous academic competitions and make some new uni friends.
An election for the position of First Year Representative will be held during the year and I encourage you all to nominate, as being a part of the NDLSS is a worthwhile university experience.
If you see me around uni and have any problems or question don’t be afraid to come up and ask, or email me at firstyear@ndlss.org.au.
Second Year Representative- Jeremy Heenan
Hi, my name is Jeremy Heenan and I’m the NDLSS Second Year Representative for 2012. I am in my second year of a Law/Arts degree, majoring in Italian. This year, I will be helping the NDLSS promote social events to second year students, and ensuring that my fellow students are represented within the committee.
Completing a law degree can be tough at times, so it is important to enjoy yourself and take time to relax. Getting involved with your law school is a great way to meet new people and above all, have fun!
