Some general info about competitions

Why Compete?

There are 101 good reasons why you should compete in at least one competition while at law school. Law at Notre Dame has a practical focus, so students are primed from day one to speak out in tutorials and get used to articulating legal issues. Competitions are a great way to extend this experience and show off your talent to senior students, law lecturers and senior lawyers. There are also cash prizes, and the winners of all competitions are invited to compete against other universities from across the country at the annual ALSA conference. And of course, there is also having that little bit extra to put on your all-important CV. In fact, there are 101 good reasons to compete and not one good reason not to, so get to it!!!

Who Can Compete?

All students enrolled in a law degree at Notre Dame are eligible to compete.

Helpful Information

It is important to check the NDLSS notice board (the one closest to the glass doors of the law school) for dates, team allocations, judges, and room numbers (liable to change – so always double check). Also keep checking the website for rules, sample problem questions and competition guidelines – these will become available before the start of the competition.

2010 Senior Moot Competition

To start the year off we have the Freehills Open Moot Competition. Application for team registration has now closed, as the prelimary rounds start on Wednesday March 10 at 6.30pm. We encourage any budding young mooters not participating to come down and watch, because it is a fantastic way to learn and support your fellow students.

Watch this space as we set the date for the Senior Moot Grand Final, which is sure to be a fantastic showdown between your fellow Notre Dame students!
