Freehills Junior Moot
A moot is a mock appeal. Teams take the role of either a respondent or appellant arguing over set grounds of appeal. There are no questions of fact in dispute, the moot will be decided simply on legal argument. Mooting gives the opportunity for law student to increase their advocacy skills as well having fun at the same time.
The Freehills Junior Moot Competition is a great way for law students to enter the world of academic competitions. The competition is designed for students who have just begun their law degrees an an extensive knowledge of the law is not required. Questions are limited the topics of Criminal Law, Tort Law and Contract Law.
Any student enrolled in a law degree at Notre Dame may compete. With the exception of those students who have completed LW360 Advocacy or reached the finals of any moot competition. Teams consist of two people and the competition rules are set by NDLSS and are available upon entry.
All competitors reaching the final will be awarded a prize the amount varying depending on their performance in the grand final with funding provided by Freehills.
Round One: Thursday the 19th of August.
Round Two: Thursday the 26th of August.
Grand Final: Thursday the 2nd of September.
