Hi Everyone,

To the new students, welcome to university life.

To the returning veterans of this prostigious law school, welcome back to what is sure to be another exciting and eventful year. I hope that everyone enjoyed their break and that they return to the study routine relaxed and refreshed. Please remember that if there is anything you need (even someone to get a beer with) please do not hestiate to contact either myself or any of the friendly NDLSS committee.

A few important dates to keep in mind:

1. NDLSS Social Memberships are now available. Costing only $20 they provide great discounts on all social events. In addition, social membership is now a prerequsite to entry into competitions. In previous years, NDLSS has worn the costs of holding competitions. This is no longer viable. Memberships will be on sale every day in week 1 and 2 in the library courtyard at 12:30pm.

2. The NDLSS cocktail party is to be held at Wolfe Lane (www.wolfelane.com.au) on the 17th of March. Tickets are $70 for members and $75 for non social members. THIS IS OUR COST PRICE FOR TICKETS. For this price you will get drinks and food for the night. Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday on March 2 at 12:30pm.

3. Freehills open moot will commence on the evening of Wednesday March 16. The following rounds will then be held on Thursday evenings. Singups will open Friday March 4 at 12:00 noon. For 2011, all competition signups will be via the NDLSS website in the competitions section (www.ndlss.org.au). Competitors are required to submit one registration per team. Please see the attached example of how to fill out your registration form. Remember, it is now a condition of entry into competition that all competitiors are NDLSS social members.

4. The Clayton Utz and NDLSS Law Ball will be held on the 19th of August. Please save the date.

I wish you you the very best in the coming semester.

Jeremy Haywood
