The 2012 Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) Graduate Program is a ten month learning and development program offering placements in a diverse range of teams, giving exposure to the variety of programs and policies carried out within DEEWR.

To be eligible for the 2012 DEEWR Graduate Program, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Have completed a Bachelor degree by the end of the 2011 academic year;
  • Be an Australian Citizen; and
  • Be prepared to relocate to Canberra.

Working in the legal branch gives exposure across all DEEWR’s programs including employment, indigenous, early childhood, schools and higher education.

Our portfolio administers over $45 billion annually to assist Australians throughout their entire lifespan. From developing world class early childhood education, to building foundations for formal schooling and higher education, through to workforce participation and income support for students and families; with all of the areas of our portfolio working towards social inclusion. We employ one of the largest portfolio in house legal teams in the Commonwealth with over 120 specialists in fields ranging from commercial, litigation, family assistance, social security, workplace relations and public sector law.

Our team has a client-oriented focus, seeking satisfaction through accurate and timely advice. This challenge, overlayed with considerations of government policy and strategic initiatives, creates an environment which is unique to working in the government.

The team operates within a focused, harmonious and cooperative environment, with a commitment to skill sharing and productive team learning.

We are looking for people who are able to work in and contribute to the development of that environment.
